Dublin → Causeway Coast → Our wedding

Our Overall Plan

A little inspiration for your time in Ireland: we’re planning a couple of days in Dublin before heading north to the coast for our wedding.

An invitation, not an itinerary

Your adventure, at your own pace

There’s no set itinerary to follow — this is simply how we’re planning our time, shared as a starting point for yours. We recommend flying into Dublin, enjoying a couple of days in the city, then heading to the Causeway Coast. Stay wherever feels right for you, explore what catches your eye, and make the trip your own. We’d love to celebrate with you on our wedding day.

The journey to our wedding

City days, then the coast

First · Aug 21–23

Arrive in Dublin

We recommend arriving through Dublin Airport. We’re planning a couple of days to settle in and enjoy the city before heading north — you’re welcome to spend as much or as little time here as you like.

Where we’re staying: Mercantile Hotel. This is our own stay, not a guest room block.

Explore Dublin

A couple of places to stay

These are just a couple of suggestions to get you started. There are plenty of other hotels, guesthouses and Airbnb stays to explore in both Dublin and the Causeway Coast — choose somewhere that suits your plans and budget.

Our Dublin stay

Mercantile Hotel

Dame Street · Dublin city centre

A central base for enjoying Dublin, close to Temple Bar, Trinity College and Grafton Street. An option if you’d like to stay where we’re staying.

Another option to compare

Motel One Dublin

Middle Abbey Street · Dublin city centre

A centrally located alternative to consider if you’re keeping an eye on your budget, with the city’s sights nearby. Compare your dates with the Mercantile — it isn’t guaranteed to cost less.

Head to the coast

We’re planning to drive north from Dublin to Portballintrae on Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coast. This small harbour village, near Dunluce Castle and Bushmills, is our base for wedding week.

Where we’re staying: Shoreline Oceanview Retreat — an Airbnb in Portballintrae.

We’re renting an Airbnb in Portballintrae for this part of the trip. Portrush and Bushmills are also lovely areas to consider, along with the surrounding coastal villages — choose a hotel, guesthouse or Airbnb that suits you. There’s time to explore around the wedding, at your own pace.

Our recommendation · Dinner here

Bushmills Inn

Bushmills · Dunluce Road

Our recommended hotel for wedding guests, since this is where we’ll gather for dinner. A historic inn in Bushmills, well placed for exploring the Causeway Coast.

A budget-minded alternative

Premier Inn Coleraine

Coleraine · A drive from Bushmills

An alternative to compare if you’re looking for a more budget-minded stay in the wider area. It’s in Coleraine, not Bushmills, so you’ll need to arrange travel to and from wedding dinner. Check rates for your dates.
